Experience Hawaii Volcanoes: Tour or Solo!

Aloha Reader!

If you’re heading to the Big Island, one of the coolest (literally and figuratively) places to visit is Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park. My family has been coming here for years, and it still gives us goosebumps every time we see steam rising from the crater!

🌋 Want to explore on your own? You can totally drive yourself—no reservation needed! Just pay the entrance fee at the gate or use your National Park Pass. You’ll get access to hiking trails, steam vents, the Kilauea Iki overlook, lava tubes, and so much more. Here’s my full blog post with tips

🌴 Want someone else to handle the planning? Here are some awesome tours:

🚌 Half-Day Hilo Volcano + Black Sand Beach Tour Perfect if you're staying near Hilo! Includes Volcanoes NP, Nahuku Lava Tube, Punaluʻu Beach, Rainbow Falls + lunch. Book here

Whether you hike it, drive it, fly over it, or see it glow at night—Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park is a must-do for families visiting the Big Island.

Let me know what you think once you’ve gone—I love hearing your favorite moments!

Aloha Reader! If your phone is filled with 500 photos of your kids in Hawaii… but zero photos of you actually with them, I’ve got a game-changer for you. It’s called Flytographer, and it’s honestly the best souvenir I’ve ever brought home from Hawaii. I’ve done 26 shoots (yes, really!) and every time, I’m blown away by how easy and fun it is—and how amazing the photos turn out. 🩵 Here’s what I love:📷 You can book online in minutes👨👩👦 It’s super low-stress (our photographers have always been...

Aloha Reader! Can I tell you a secret? The first time I went to Hawaii… I didn’t even want to go. I was 10 years old, and my family had just surprised me with a trip to visit my grandma in Kauai. Sounds amazing, right? Except I had just been cast in a community theater play I really wanted to be in, and I was crushed to miss it. (Cue the dramatic preteen angst.) To top it off: I was super nervous to fly — I hadn’t been on a plane since I was a toddler I had no idea what to expect (Where would...

Aloha Reader! I’m so glad you’re here — and if we haven’t officially met yet, let me introduce myself real quick: 👋 I’m Marcie — a Hawaii-obsessed mom of two who’s visited the islands more than 40 times (yep, really). My first trip to Hawaii was back in 4th grade when we went to visit my grandma, who split her time between Kauai and Seattle. I completely fell in love with the islands — I even started taking hula lessons back home and checked out every book on Hawaiian legends from the...
