In case you missed Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, he did a really thorough job of explaining Hawaii's fascinating and heartbreaking history with the United States government and the tourism industry. Watch the segment. These tensions are still there in Hawaii and it helps to understand WHY things are the way they are. I really appreciate how he ends the segment by explaining that your trip to Hawaii will not really make an impact either way on the situation. It's much, much larger.
